The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, (PDRRMO), announced that the provincial government in Occidental Mindoro delivered solar street lights to Lubang Island villages to address the problem of brownouts.

Mario Mulingbayan Jr., PDRRMO chief, stated in an interview that the delivery as well as the pending installation of the solar lights was part of disaster preparedness and security.

He noted that the delivery of street lamps was in response to earlier requests from village chiefs. It is well-known that solar-powered lights can be both environment-friendly as well as inexpensive.

Mailyn Legaspi was the team leader for PDRRMO’s Lubang Sub-office. She thanked all agencies who supported the street lighting project.

According to the provincial government, it will continue installing solar streetlights in various villages, schools, and hospitals.
